Shrinking technology for cutting tools has entered production almost 20 years ago. In the beginning, there were quite simple solutions, first the tool holders were heated with a welding torch and then cooled down with "adventurous" technology from today's perspective. Today Diebold's shrinking machines are equipped with state-of-the-art inductive technology, and the cooling of the top units is fully automatic and gentle on the tools. All devices contain parameters for the shrinking processes which are always available via a menu control. For the shrinking process the units use induction coils. With an additional ferrite disk, the magnetic field is shielded for better efficiency during the shrink process. Diebold uses patented coil technology for this purpose.
